  • Boot Camp vs Parallel vs a PC

I have heard of a lot people having problems with Parallel especially while running high end programs in background. I’ve experienced problems without running background programs.
    Is this common with others?

Secondly, is boot camp safer or any better. A friend of mine had to do a erase & install due to the problems of Parallel. I need to avoid that. Is it worth it to buy a PC instead of using Boot Camp?

Boot Camp is the same as having a PC. The only difference is that you can’t run your Mac and your PC at the same time. If that doesn’t matter to you, Boot Camp is great. If it does matter, getting a PC might make more sense.

Another alternative is to use Boot Camp AND Parallels. You can make a Boot Camp Windows and use that when you need high-end programs. You can then load Parallels and have it load up the Boot Camp Windows when you need to run low-end programs at the same time as OSX. So you just open Windows in the way that makes the most sense at the moment. It’s the same version of Windows, just being opened in different ways.

    I see
I have had a lot of problems with parallels though.
It runs EXTREMELY slow and internet explorer seems to constantly open up a new pop up add.

Do you run anti-virus and anti-spyware software?
The pop-up issue sounds like you have spyware on your Windows side.
I don’t know if that is causing Parallels issues also (if it even can).

“especially while running high end programs in background.”

Which high end programs? How much Ram? What kind of Mac?

What are the pluses and minuses of running Parallels with or without Boot Camp?
