    Hello,

I am trying to create a 3d cutout of a California shoreline. I have a simple landscape for my land/ocean floor, and a cube with a blue transparent material to represent the water.

My problem is that the landscape slopes down on all sides and the cube than makes the scene look like it’s an island.

Is there a way to make the landscape more of a shore line (push the mountainous side of the landscape to one side and have it slope down gradually) than an island? Or is there a way to use a boole to connect the two in a way that makes it look natural?

    Thanks in advance!!

I don’t think you could do that with the Landscape object, you can turn off the borders but that’s not likely what you want. I would do it with a black to white gradient texture with noises added, applied to a plane with displacement (SPD) (or the Relief object). Or if you have a DEM you could use that (or make it by hand in PS…)

How would I apply a dem of the coastline to the plane? Would I apply the dem as a displacement map? Do I have to do any photoshop work to the dem prior to applying it?

Also on a side note, my move tool and rotate tools handles have disappeared from my viewport. Normally there iare the xyz handles and the phb rings to be able to manipulate the object along one axis. Those have disappeared from my viewport. Any idea why or how to get them back?

Just load in the Standard layout in the Window menu or with the layout icon on the upper-left
