I have decided to purchase an ag-dvx100a and get into video production. I am a beginner and I’m looking for a good book to get started with creating dv. It does not have to be specific to this camera I suppose but I would be interested in what users of this camera recommend.

    Thanks

Barry Green’s book on the DVX is what you’re looking for:

It depends on what you want to learn. DV overview? Documentaries? Commercial projects? Super-cool home movies? Music Videos? Feature Films or Shorts? This is a complex and time consuming world, and no one book can even scratch the surface. Start with three, a video book, an audio book (Jay ROse), and a lighting book (John Jackman). My library is up to 25 or so right now.

Good advice indeed. I think I will start with the dvx book to learn how to use the camera itself and then progress onto other books to learn some of the intricacies of the craft. Thanks for the authors names. If you have a preference of author for video I would be interested in that as well.

Audio & video are Bibles of sorts. For shooting, it really depends on where you are and what you want to do. But Elite Video has a good DVD program called Advanced Broadcast Techniques, you can usually find it on eBay pretty cheap. That is as good a place to start as any for a newbie I think.

I’d love to buy this book,is there any other way besides pay pal I can get this?
I’ve had to bail on pay pal because I can no longer tell when I’m getting legit emails from
them. The spammers have totally taken over and 99% of the pay pal emails aren’t from pay pal any more
so I’ve just given up on them. Too Bad but I can’t take the chance.
So where can I buy this book with real money.?

The DVX book is available thru Amazon.

As far as Paypal, they NEVER send you email unless releated to a specific transaction. Just ignore EVERYTHING and you will be fine. Most of my paypal scam-emails actually come thru my ebay account or sometimes totally unlrelated amail accounts and not paypal at all.
