  Book binding creates unsightly regions… A fix?

  I have scanned an image into P’SHOP, from a big art book.

  There are the artifacts, unsightly and glaring, where the book’s binding changed the distance of the page from the scanning plate. Some of the regions are darker, while others are lighter than the main image.

  Do you know of a PHOTOSHOP technique for removing these artifacts completely?
