Bob Zellin’s DIY San Question
First I want to thank Bob Zellin for the article on DIY SAN. It was a very interesting read, and I am trying to figure out if it is right for my facility. One question I have is about the MetaLAN software. I listened to the Cow podcast with Bob Zellin, and I didn’t remember hearing any mention of the MetaLAN software. Did I miss something? I walked away from the podcast thinking that the only software part of the SAN was the built-in filesharing of the Mac OS X.
I am thinking about setting up a DIY SAN for 7 FCP systems that mostly cut DV25 footage. I would appreciate some detail on the functionality that MetaLAN could provide for this kind of setup and if you would recommend it for our setup.
