Just out of curiosity what kind of re-wiring are you doing?

Tell him to not forget to hook up the black burst sync…

His number one post that I read over and over. 🙂

We now have three edit suites and all of them were independent rooms. Bob designed a new engineering workflow to bring all three rooms together in two central racks. So all audio and video will flow through the racks. Also the computers for my room and the other primary edit suite were moved out to the racks along with our new storage. Both rooms will essentially be silent since everything is out there.

We’ve run probably about 1,500 feet or so of cables through the walls and now Bob is here tying up the entire rack system. Great to finally meet him in person!

    WOW!

That’s a large deal there! I’ve done that before with a production truck for a local PBS station. Fun… but I’m not too sure that I like to do that all of the time.

I guess that means you will have plenty of Wii time, today!

Hope you have an air conditioner in there. Lots of heat.

Will you be training your minions not to pull patches EVER unless they are sure what they’re doing, and even then, not by the cord but by the terminal? Many heads have been whacked in this regard.

Surely, Bob gave you enough service loop with your power cords so that when the cleaning staff comes in and rolls your rack out of the way to clear out those dust bunnies, it won’t blink out your edit rooms.

Looks great, Walter. your scratch VO’s will never sound better, now that the hum and whirr has been eliminated.

And it’s been cranking with 100 degree temps over the past week or so too. Geez it’s truly been HotLanta lately.

With the way Bob designed the panels, we actually won’t be doing a lot of patching. He’s normalized so much stuff to both primary suites that really only the DVD Recorder and the new Rialto Room are going to need patches all the time. I never would have thought this out as well as he did.

Bob wired up the systems where i am (@ Crew Cuts) years ago before he moved out west. They since have been rewired when we switched to FCP 3-4 years ago, i think by his former cohorts.
