    Hi,

Does someone know if I would be able to shoot at 120 fps with the BMD 4K production camera and the Atomos shogun? Or that 120 fps has to be something the camera is capable of doing?

Will I be able to connect the BMD 4K production camera via 6G-sdi to the 12G-sdi atoms shogun to use as a directors monitor? for pull focus, etc?

Many thanks for any light someone could shed on this.

    Cheers!

I’m pretty sure the output signal via SDI cable is always 59.94 or 29.97 fps. There is no 120fps flavor of SDI as far as I know.

First off, the camera doesn’t shoot 120fps.

    https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicproductioncamera4k/techspecs/

    Second, the Shogun doesn’t record 120fps. Only 24, 25 and 30 (guessing 23.98, 25, 29.97)

So that right there is a big no….end of discussion.

    But…

6G SDI does support high frame rates…but I think you need to use 4 SDI to get 4K 120fps. I know the AJA Cion does shoot 120fps at 4K…and that you need to use all 4 SDI outputs to send out the 4K signal.

    https://www.aja.com/en/products/cion#techspecs

And that their KiPro Quad takes in 4 SDI…but doesn’t do 120fps. That might be future tech…120fps 4K. Might be something a computer can do with a capture card like the AJA Kona 4 (not yet released).

Sorry, limited to 4K at 30fps max for now.

Anybody know if the 4K BMCC is working with the Shogun recorder over SDI now. Was reading that the Shogun wasn’t accepting the 6G SDI output form the BMCC.

I’m wanting to record RAW 4K internally and then use the Shogun to record a 4K ProRes backup.

    Thanks
