    Hi Folks

    Here’s my scenarium:

    I’m finishing a documentary shoot with a Canon XL2
24pa(advanced)16×9 (anamorphic). I’m going to do
    color correction, etc…IT’S A TRANSFER-TO-FILM PROJECT,
SO MY OUTPUT MUST BE A 24P DPX SEQUENCE.
    -I did open a BMD 23.98 project.
-When I capture my 24pa material from the DV tape,
everything looks just fine, Ppro2 remove the advance
pulldown correctly and shows me a 24p progressive
output in my broadcast( I guess it just add the 2:3
pulldown for monitoring purposes). So I have a 24p
timeline, where every frame it’s 1 frame at 24p.OK!
-Then, when I render this same footage, applying a
simple color correction fx (or any other fx), my
broadcast monitoring get this weird motion artifact..
looks like ppro2 or BMD it’s applying the
    wrong 2:3pulldown (cadence)..
The same happens when I capture a TGA
    sequence..weird pulldown are been applied.
Or even if export the 24pa footage as a 24p AVI
and then reimport to my 24p project..the motion problem
    it’s there..
-For some test purposes, I did capture the same TGA
sequence in a 30fps project and the problem has gone..

IT’S A TRANSFER-TO-FILM PROJECT, SO, I HAVE TO WORK IN
    A 24P PROJECT..

I’m running DL Extreme PCIe with Premiere Pro 2 on
    a certified Blackmagic System:
    INTEL PENTIUM DUAL CORE
    Asus P5WD2 Premium
Intel Pentium D Dual Core 830
4 SATA disks with 8MB cache using onboard RAID
    nVidia GeForce NX6600
    4GB DDR2 800 RAM (CORSAIR TWIN2X2048-6400PRO)
535 watt Power supply (24 pin) – Enermax

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Bernardo,

I do not believe you are going to be able to play out your 24p standard definition material via the DeckLink Extreme PCIe card as our drivers support 23.98p rather than 24p in standard definition. I think that is the problem you are seeing now when you attempt to play out your 24p material.

The DeckLink SD series of cards support 625/25 PAL, 525/29.97 NTSC and 525/23.98 NTSC as noted on the DeckLink SD Specs page. They do not support 24p in standard definition. The DeckLink HD series of cards do support 1080p24 in high definition but do not support 24p in standard definition.

    HI LUKE!

    THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY.

I’M USING THE SD 23.98 BMD PRESET.

    I’M NOT PLAYING 24P.

THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE A BAD PULLDOWN INSERTION DONE BY THE BMD EXTREME CARD..

EVERYTHING LOOKS FINE WHEN I GO FRAME-BY-FRAME, IT LOOKS LIKE TRUE 23.98 TIMELINE. THE MOTION WEIRDNESS ARISES WHEN I PLAY THE MATERIAL AND THE CARD ADDS THE PULLDOWN FOR BROADCAST MONITORING.

I HAVE BEEN TALKING WITH ANDREW, FOR A COUPLE OF MOUNTHS NOW..NO SUCEED…

    PLEASE HELP!
I’M STARTING THIS PROJECT TODAY. AND I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET SOME SUPPORT FEEDBACK WITH NO SUCEED..

    THANKS AGAIN

    BERNARDO
