  • BM Video Recorder capturing FCP output, same system?

i had to encode a 45 minute rough cut with TC burn to the 320×240 iPod video setting in Compressor for a producer to download and view, and it took over 6 hours to encode on an 8 core Mac Pro. not sure why its taking so long. i also created a DVD with an off-the-shelf DVD recorder hooked up to the Kona 3 output with the TC burn turned on (in Kona ControlPanel), which took…. 45 minutes. so i’ve looked at the Blackmagic Video Recorder with much interest to speed up these H.264 encodes. but i have a question, can i output video with Final Cut/Kona, and capture back in with the BM Video Recorder on the same system?

also, how do you like the quality of the encodes from this unit. i’m more interested in the real time speed than the quality, but i’m curious.

    thanks
