  • BM guys: question (and comment) concerning MB Extreme

Just got my MB Extreme. All seems to be working well, though I haven’t hooked up most of it yet (still waiting on other components for the new sys). I have a question and a comment:

Question: The cable from the PCIe card to the MBE won’t quite reach my rack. The supplied cable looks like a standard DVI-D connector to me. Can I use any DVI-D cable or are you guys using exotic pinout arrangements and crossovers? If I can’t use a DVI-D cable, what are my options for extending the one I have?

Comment: I know one way you guys keep costs low is by not spending a lot on packaging and design, but I nearly s**t my pants when I looked at the picture on the box, which is a MB not and MBE. For about 7 seconds I was sure I had totally misread the info and specs on your website and here at The Cow. LOL. Anyways, a product this good deserves its own box.

This will not work. The cables may look the same but they are different.

There are currently no option to extend this cable.

Thanks for the comment. I’ll certainly let the guys here know.

Actually, I looked into this when I got mine and someone from BMD said that a high quality cable in a length of 9 feet would be OK.
