I have a high resolution image that I’ve put into a child layer and I am using the parent motion to animate a zoom in.

My problem is that this layer renders pixelated as I’ve zoomed in… even though I have plenty of resolution in the child image to handle the final framing.

Is there anyway to force the child layer to use all of its source resolution?

It’s the same if I use either preview, good or best quality.

    Help!

You need to use Pan/Crop to zoom in. Track Motion will always convert the image to the project resolution BEFORE it does any movement which is why you are seeing pixelation when zooming in. Never zoom in with Track or Parent Motion; only zoom out. Pan/Crop will zoom in and use all of the resolution in the image as it zooms.

Also for Hi-Res photos, I wouldn’t go any bigger than 1440 x 980 and Vegas likes PNG files.

Right click the photo, go to Switches and check the ‘reduce-interlace-flicker’ box.
