I’m having trouble with my After Effects “lossless” (whatever the default is) exports once I import them into Premiere. See, I’ve made these intro and outro segments that feature animated logos and text and such and they look razor sharp in AE and also when I look at the exported avi (viewing say, in Quicktime).

However, when I import them into Premiere to combine with some DV footage, the sharpness of the animations is gone (both in preview and when I export). The logos have an unacceptable blurred look to them, that basically ruins it. A friend advised me that this might have to do with the rather “lossy” dv codec of the sequence or project file, or something, but I don’t quite understand a suitable work around.

Does anyone know how to import crisp clean AE animation avi’s and combine them on a Premiere Pro timeline with regular old DV footage–without unprofessional blurry mess?

    Thanks.

To keep things clean and simple, make all your compositions in AE in square pixels (864×480 for 16:9 and 648×480 for 4:3).

Go to interpret footage in Premiere and make sure it is set to square pixels as well, that.

After that, yes DV will compress graphics in the bad way. What are you exporting to ?

Vince, I’m having a very similar issue. Using CS3, I have a very basic AE project with a map graphic, no animation yet. When I save the AE project and import into Premier, the graphic is slightly blurry, not nearly as sharp as it looks in AE. The text layer I have in the AE project is also blurry. What do I need to do to resolve this?
