Ok, so I’m a broadcast editor for a television station and we use Final Cut Pro to blur our videos to save time on rendering and exporting from Motion or After Effects.

    The problem:

We double the clip up, throw a mask shape, feather, and gaussian blur on the clip and recenter the blur in the mask shape filter and keyframe the blur through its movement.

Is there ANY WAY to find a hot key for the center button so I don’t have to suffer carpel tunnel from switching between the center button and the canvas all day long?

    Sincerely,

    Spence

What you need is Andy Mees region blur which lets you blur or mosaic a defined region and has a centering target which can be key framed. All done on one layer and very much simpler and faster than your method.

A simple search of this forum will also throw up a few more free plugins that will save you carpel tunnel.

you could use QuicKeys or similar tool to automatically click the ‘Center’ button for you whenever you press a specific hot key … that should work

I’m very familiar with Andy’s Region blur, but the center button is a pain in the ass to continue reverting to. What I was wondering is if there was a hot key for the center button. I would use Andy’s filter but the company needs to make sure the filter is compatible with the server and spread the plug in to the other comps.

Any idea about the hot key for re-centering?
