I am working on a video where my client wanted me to blur certain people faces as they come in and out of view.

Is there a simple way to do this with Sony version 8? Or is there another software that would easily do this?

    Thanks for your help.

James, take a look at Edward Troxel’s newsletter (PDF format) Vol.1 #12 for the article Blurring Faces a la “Cops”.
You will need to do some keyframing as the people come in & out of view but that’s not hard to do.
If you need help with that, check out Vol.2 #8 for the article Beginner’s Corner – Using Keyframes.

1)Copy the section of video to be blurred, put it on the track above. (must be aligned perfectly)
2)insert blur video fx on top layer
3)insert cookie cutter video fx on top layer.
4)the Center “cookie” area should now be blurred.
    5) Adjust sizing, edge softness as well as motion with the key frames from within the cookie fx window.

    Good luck
