BluRay conversion plays jerky
I have a BluRay disk I want to play thru my XBox. I have a Windows 7 MediaCenter PC that my XBox connects to in order to watch movies. XBox acting as Media Center Extender. So two problems:
1. Can’t watch the BluRay directly on the XBox.
2. XBox won’t play movies in 5.1 audio without being in WMV format. So here’s what I do to convert it (my attempt is to keep as uncompressed thru the process as possible until the last step):
1. Use MakeMKV to extract the Video, 5.1 audio, and subtitles.
2. Since Sony Vegas won’t open MKV files, and converting the MKV to a very large MP4 doesn’t seem to open either, convert in Microsoft Expressions Encoder 4 to WMV at 20k bitrate (max it supports).
3. Then I noticed in BluRay’s there is a lot of pixelation that I guess the standard bluray player cleans up. I open in Vegas Pro 12 using 32-bit floating (Video Levels) pixel format and purchased NeatVideo which always works great. Run it thru to clean it up and output using the uncompressed option. Believe it outputs an AVI.
4. Then put it in Microsoft Expressions Encoder 4 again and create a new WMV in this case that is 10k bitrate.I keep everything at 23.976 framerate. Problem is when the video plays audio is fine as I deal with that separately and add it in at the end, but video is jerky. Seems to be moving a bit slower than it should be. Any thoughts what’s happening here?
Thanks.
