    Hello gentleman,

Can anyone provide advise on the best Blu-ray burner for mac, besides de MC Tech products, there are many complaints abut their products taking way to long to burn Blu-ray discs.

    Thanks for the responses.

I would not recommend any optical reader burners firstly they are unreliable and hard disks are cheaper for storage

    Hello Franz,

Thanks for the message, I am looking advice on Blu-ray burners, since I am producing more HD content at this time.

    Regards.

I’ve had good luck with OWC’s Mercury Pro external (https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MRF8BDSD12X/). If you’ve got a Mac Pro you can get internal drives a lot cheaper (the OWC is basically a Pioneer or LG burner in a quad-interface enclosure), but I often find myself burning from multiple computers so the portability is nice.

I don’t really have a frame of reference for speed, since it’s the only burner I’ve used, and I use it mainly for burning one-off HD screener discs. For bulk projects where I’d rather not babysit a burner all day, I usually outsource to a duplication house.

There’s not a lot of Blu-Ray authoring software for OS X, and what’s out there can get a little pricey, so be sure to factor that into your purchasing decision. You’ll also probably want to invest in a standalone Blu-Ray player for testing since Blu-Ray playback on a Mac is iffy at best.

I have lost two hard disks, but so far never lost anything backed up to an optical disc.

Never a problem with my old LaCie 4X BD Burner. Here’s a link to the 12X-

I purchased a LG External 12x BE12LU30 bluray burner for my MAC. It only tells you its windows compatible but it works great with MAC (SL & Lion).

For speed I added a Matrox MX02 with MAX sending everything thru Compressor, selecting the Matrox with MAX bluray disc codec.

All the processing is done through the matrox hardware. I shaved 5 hours off my processing time.

    Hello,

@ Javier… did you finally buy the Blu Ray burner for your MAC?

    If so…

    1. Which one did you get?
    2. Which media is working for you?

I own a BDR-203 from Pioneer but is super slow and has no updates for the firmware.

    Thank you.
