Blur Tracking for Censorship
Hi,
I’m working on a job that requires a great deal of blurring logos, artwork, alcoholic beverages, etc… It is taking endless man hours to manually go in and key frame the blur effect for multiple items within numerous clips. They are doc style pieces, so you could imagine how many items and clips it could be. Plus, the result isn’t the best since the blur bleeds into surrounding areas too much.
Is there a plugin out there that could make this much easier? Maybe something that allows you to specify a 4-point region and it could “track” the item’s pattern within some type of threshold?
Any suggestions would be appreciated…

Within Final Cut? Nothing. Andy’s Region Blur is the closest thing, but it doesn’t have motion tracking built in. Avid’s Blur Tool does and is handy for that. After Effects would be good for it as well, but Final Cut’s built in tools not so much.

But yeah, I use Andy’s Region Blur and keyframe every few frames. Documentary stuff…been there.

I had to do a lot of blurring when editing a BbC consumer programme last year on FCP7
( it has now moved onto avid for this year)I found that was easier to do edit in motion.
