    Hello…

    I wanna add a blur just on the outside on a filmclip so the main in the page are still in focus. I have testet it on Premiere and on After Effects but i cant quite figure it out..Any tips??

    1-Make a comp the size of the layer to be blurred.
    2-Place a black solid over a white solid.
    3-Blur the black solid so the white creeps in around the edges.
    4-Drag this comp into the main comp.
    5-Apply the compound blur effect to the desired layer, using the aforementioned black/white comp layer as the blur map.

    There you go. Youmight need to tweak some settings, but that’s the theory.

    With respect to Steve’s suggestion, I think a simpler way, is to duplicate the
    layer and apply a rectangular mask on the top layer with the desired amount of border from
    the comp edge to the mask line. Then open mask property (hit MM) and select “subtract”.
    Feather the mask and blur the mask layer to suit your needs.
