Blueray
Posted by Mark Dannunzio on November 10, 2008 at 5:05 pmHello,
I was wondering if anyone knew if the new compressor will have an option to encode for blueray?
Thanks,

November 10, 2008 at 5:10 pmSteve Jobs has said that getting into BluRay is “a world of hurt.” So I doubt it. But we also never know what Apple will do in the future. Those who know don’t tell…those who do tell vanish!
Adobe Encore, Toast 9…those are your options.

November 10, 2008 at 5:10 pmSo once I have that blueray file I should be able to use toast and burn a DVD right? Any word on when DVD Studio Pro will allow to build a blueray disc?
Thanks alot,

November 10, 2008 at 5:42 pmI want to find out more about these stand-alone live BluRay recorders out of Japan, where I understand they’ve been in use for a couple years. I could play my HD timeline off thru the IO into one of these and be a happy guy for the specific situation I have. Anybody got aline on when/if the Japanese stand-alone recorders will make it over here?

We’ve been using Compressor for BluRay encoding for 12 months now. It’s always been there since they added HD encoding.

sometimes they come up on ebay.
Panasonic is mum at the moment but they should be here around 2010.
cost of entry has been one barrier, as the msrp is around $ 2,500
in years past. $ 1,500 is the new entry price point on the cheapest one
as of 1 year ago. I remember paying around $ 700 for the first panasonic
dvd-recorder.here are some model numbers:
Panasonic DMR-E700BD (3 years old)
1 year old (can also record avc/mpeg4)
Panasonic DMR-BW700
Panasonic DMR-BW800
Panasonic DMR-BW900 -

November 10, 2008 at 7:38 pmCompared to what we pay for decks, these will seem cheap even at that price.

November 10, 2008 at 11:19 pmHey Walter,
Where is that BluRay setting located in Compressor?
I could be misunderstanding, but is it the same as the “HD-DVD” settings?
Sorry… I’m a BluRay noob.
