Blue & White G3 Support
Posted by Juan Salvo on October 20, 2010 at 5:34 amDoes anyone know when the Apple Blue & White G3 mac will be supported? And also firewire video preview? I wish blackmagic would get their act together and make this thing accessible, I’m not going to spend 900 bucks unless it works with all of the gear in my shop.

October 20, 2010 at 6:00 amI was wondering the same thing. Damn BMD are so slow to qualify older systems. Apparently when it is certified it will only be the model with 124MB of RAM. If you have the 64MB model you’ll have to add the RAM upgrade to the $900 as well! Also it will only support analogue video signals and real-time will only be of use on black and white jobs.

October 20, 2010 at 12:32 pmI think iPhone will become the standard config for smaller ‘indie’ filmmakers while the large post houses will have fully optioned iPads and be able to offer higher resolutions and more nodes in realtime.

October 20, 2010 at 1:13 pmGreat! So when will it run on my Tandy 1000? It’s got an 8086 processor and 512KB of ram. Should be enough for realtime 4K stereo, right? If not I’m not blowing 900 bucks on a davinci.

October 20, 2010 at 1:17 pmIf they can’t get it running on the Timex Sinclair I have in a box in the back room I am going to storm off this forum in a huff. And for that matter how about NeXT cube with NeXT Dimension support it has video IO.

October 20, 2010 at 2:38 pmHa. I’ve been chiseling instruction sets into clay tablets in Babylonian cuneiform for a couple of months now and it works like a charm. What are you guys complaining about?
