May 13, 2008 at 12:46 pmHi again!
I’ve used the regular color key. Twice. Picked a sample from the slightly darker blue next to the guy, and then did it again for the lighter blue. It’s too easy, man! Try it.
Best regards.

July 12, 2008 at 4:03 amHave you tried doing a difference key in a precomp? Is there some footage shot of the set before the talent was on camera? (It has to be with the camera in the exact same position as with the talent.) Try grabbing a frame (or looping a small section if possible.) Then you can set that or the talent footage as a difference layer above the other. Don’t know how well it will work, but I have been able to use the technique successfully on a couple of occasions. With some more tweaking it can sometimes be used as another matte key.

July 12, 2008 at 7:20 amif you can’t reshoot, you can still get excellant results by using a track matte in conjuntion with primatte.
Here’s my test of your pic and instructions…
https://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=a495v&s=4
1. new comp “see” and drop in man.jpg
2. new adjustment layer above man.jpg
3. duplicate adj layer (CTRL + D) above man.jpg and set track matte to
luma inverted matte
4. add difference matte to dup adj layer
5. diff layer setting set to man.jpg and man.jpg trackmat to luma inverted matte and man.jpg only layer in “see” comp visible
6. set difference layer to remove blue wall
7. create new comp final
9. add “see” into final comp
9. add man.jpg with primatte keyer underneathThe diff luma matte will make filling in hole and texture look fantastic. Hope this helps.
