    Hi,

I’m currently working on a project with some explosion, bullet hits and blood FX etc. All the effects i’ve used thus far have always been on a black or white background, which i’ve been able to composite in using either chroma keyer (for white bg) or mask generator (for blk bg).

I came across some free stock footage of an explosion shot on blue screen, and am wondering how to make the blue transparent? I’ve been unsuccessful thus far.
And lastly would I go through the same steps with footage shot on green screen?

    Thanx for reading,
    Carson

Did you try the chroma keyer? Why did that not work? (what did it not do?) This is what you should be using just like you are using for the white background. The same would be true for green screen. The chroma keyer is designed to remove blue or green but can work with any color. Green is better for video because the luminance channel also carries the green signal and so there is more information to use for keying. Blue works better with film but both should work.
