Blue pixel noise on Kona 2 with FCP 5
Hi there,
Repeating a post on the Kona forum in case it’s a Final Cut issue rather than the Kona 2 card…
When playing through the timeline (1080i 29.97 8 bit Uncompressed) I get random blue pixels appearing throughout. This is only really noticeable on darker areas of the screen, but when it comes to mastering back to tape, it’s going to ruin a perfectly good online!
I haven’t got a recordable deck in at the moment, so can’t check if the specks will get printed to tape, but they’re all over the monitor (Sony HD Multiformat), so it looks likely. I’ve played a HD tape directly into the monitor, and the specks aren’t there, so the problem must be coming from the card or Final Cut. Yes?
Luckily the specks don’t appear to be on the actual footage – a frame-by-frame analysis shows that thay’re never in the same place on the same frame. They’ll even disappear when parked on a still image.
I’ve noticed that they don’t appear when playing a slug or matte generated in FCP – only on captured footage.
Anyone seen this with any other card? …or even better, has anyone managed to fix this?!?
Many thanks,
Al
