blue background help asap please

The problem with black is that the dancer probably has some black on them and that will be keyed out as well. That’s why we use blue or green because they don’t occur in human skin and hair and so as long as you can get the talent not to wear the key color you’re all set.

Have you tried the chroma keyer in Vegas using black as the key color? This should work. You could also duplicate the video and add the Mask Generator FX to create a moving mask and then use Parent/Child compositing mode to apply the mask. Either way should remove the black background.

hi thanks alot for replying, if you mean vegas chorma key, there is only blue screen and green screen, how do i make it the black key colour?

hi, ok i’ve figured out and the black does key out but the dancer looks less brighter and a little duller,
how do i sort this?

You can adjust the dancer by using a moving mask. What you do is duplicate the track with the chroma key effect to the track above. Then turn the chroma key on that track into a black and white mask by checking the box Show mask only. Now change the composite mode of this upper track to Multiply (Mask). Finally make the original chroma key track a child of this upper track using Make Compositing Child. You can now remove the chroma key FX from the original footage add a Sony Color Curve to adjust the dancer.

hi thanks for your tutorial tip, i tried it i think its looking better but im having a slight problem, the background looks like its over the video rather than behind it, i mean i have a pink shade with dots and the dots are appearing on the dancers clothes, i want it to look like its behind the dancer, like a backdrop.

any suggestions?

You need to fine tune the mask. Did you use the Sony Chroma Keyer tool? If so, you turn on the Show Mask Only option and adjust the Low threshold and High threshold until the mask is black and white with no shades of gray. It’s the gray in the mask that’s causing the background to bleed through.
