  Blu-ray H264 encode dissolve artifacts

  We are authoring our first Blu Ray with Adobe Media Encoder 6, and need some suggestions — so thank you for any and all help!

  We are encoding SD 16×9 MJPEG files to H264, using Encoder’s “Legacy SD” preset, 2-pass VBR at a target rate of 8mbps. (We need to fit @11 hours of SD video on a BD, and we will make it a 50GB dual-layer if need be.) This setting is actually the first that we’ve found that outputs the correct SD field-dominance and is accepted into Encore without transcoding.

  Encode quality is generally good, but we get “winking” of video or break-up artifacts in dissolves and during fast-action, and some undulating during still video images.

  We are not experienced encoders, and after a lot of searching here and elsewhere we are guessing we need to adjust/disable key frames, try Constrained VBR, etc — any specific suggestions are appreciated.

  Since there are very few ways to change this pre-set in Media Encoder, is it possible to copy the pre-set values to edit as a new setting?
