  • Blu-ray discs won’t play – what to do

Posted by Jonas Jensen on May 22, 2010 at 7:43 am

I have been trying for the last week to make BD disc, but have trouble playing it in some bd-players. The discs seems to work fine i a PS3 and in some other bd-player (forgot the brand).

However, this particular disc needs to be played from a player capable of decoding six separate audio channels. I have tried it on a Sony BDP-S300 and an Oppo BD-83, both with the latest firmware, and supposedly both capable of playing back BD-R, but to no avail. The Sony says “Can’t play”. The Oppo just says “Loading” indefinately.

Disc was authored with Encore CS5, encoded with MPEG2 and DD5.1

I’m really at a loss here. Any suggestion as to what I might try, or what I could be doing wrong would be appreciated.

The PS3 and Panasonic Blu-ray players are known for having good playback support of BD-R’s. Unfortunately Sony players (not PS3) and some other brands do not have great support.

You may want to try another brand of discs, such as Sony or Verbatim, but if that doesn’t work, you might just have to use a different player.

It worked. Using a Verbatim disc solved the problem. And there was much rejoice 🙂

    Thanks a bunch.
