  • Blown out whites when DVD is projected

I have been authoring DVDs that look great on a monitor. But when they’re projected in a large room the whites blow out. Is there something I should do in authoring to compensate or a setting on the projector.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Seems that the projector needs adjustment. What type of signal are you sending to the projector?

Greatly depends on the quality of the project as well as the screen it’s being projected onto. If it’s a consumer projector onto a wall be happy you can see anything. If it’s a $4000+ projector going onto a nice screen in a darkened room you should expect a good picture with calibration of the projector. If the DVD looks proper on a broadcast monitor there’s not much more you can do.

are you playing from a DVD Player, or from some other source? If DVD Player, is your format NTSC with IRE setup (like North America NTSC vs. Japan NTSC).

You could be seeing the effects of a DVD Player/IRE Setup — it might make your whites looked “washed out”
