Bloody Text
Hey everyone,
a little help would be appreciated on this one. I am going for a bloody text look, similar to that in the movie ‘300’ when it opens up, but I want it to look as though the blood is splattering across the screen and the text “War Room” is the result of the splatter. Any tutorials out there? I am familiar with Aharon Robinowitz’s tutorial on bloody dripping text, but that is not what I am after. I want a splash/splatter across the bottom of the screen, with the words War Room splattering along with the run-off excess blood.

I haven’t seen 300 (shameful I know) but you might look at Andrew Blood Splatter here:

Maybe you can sub in some bloody text for the splatters that Andrew uses (or combine that with Aharon’s tut).

Hey… I spent a few hours one Saturday a couple of weeks ago just spattering sheets of paper with ink. I scanned them in and after using Photoshop to take them out of the paper background imported them into AE (7). If you create a mask that is similar to the shape of your ink spatter, yet smaller, and then animate the mask expansion from a negative value (so that none of the spatter is visible) to a high value (in which all of the spatter is visible), you’ll get the effect of ink – or blood – spattering against a surface. Throw down a grungy-looking font and you’re on your way to a cool looking “300 style” title effect. I’m not sure if this is what your looking for, but you can modify things to better suite your vision…
