July 29, 2011 at 2:39 pmWhat do you mean more realistic? Its already real with an alpha
channel for you to composite, tweak and color correct in your
project perfectly.Steve Rhoden

July 29, 2011 at 4:22 pmWhat is not realistic about it? Sometimes selling a special FX shot requires you shoot for the edit. For example, if the blood is at the wrong angle, you might need to change the angle of the shot if you can’t realistically change the angle of the blood. If the color isn’t matching the lighting conditions you may need to color correct. It would help if you posted a screen shot and told us why you feel it doesn’t look realistic so that we can comment with some context.

But here the projekt i working on, take a look, also i have some trouble with the mask around the head and hand,I can see the edges, i’ve tried to color correct it, and also tried to use the leveler, but they are still viseble.

July 29, 2011 at 7:36 pmWell… part of making it look real is having it behave as it would in real life. It seems the victim is too far from the tree to leave a splatter like that. His head would need to be right in front of the tree to make a pattern like that. This ruins the illusion. If he were directly in front of a wall, then that pattern makes sense. Also it looks like the camera moves slightly when the shooter walks in front of it which causes the tree to move but the blood to remain stationary. The shot just needs to be planned better and some of the masking could be better. You’re gaining an appreciation of how hard special FX work really is. You can’t always fix things in post. 😉 Good for you for trying to learn this. It’s lots of fun but lots of work (and rework) too.

July 30, 2011 at 9:34 pmNot a bad try, but as John pointed out also, needs some work.
and for you to think in realistic and logical terms when compositing
a visual effects shot.
But we all started out like that, just keep at it.Steve Rhoden
