Elsewhere, Creative Cow has a terrific tutorial on “Blockbuster” color-correcting. (https://library.creativecow.net/articles/maschwitz_stu/red-giant-blockbuster-film-look/video-tutorial) Once you get past the bloated intro, things get very interesting. The tutorial is all about using Red Giant software, but as I suspected, one can do much of the same thing using what comes already with Vegas 12 (and probably many earlier versions too.) Red Giant will save you time, but none of it is fast. It takes a lot of trial and error to make this work well.

For the moment, Colorista ll and other Red Giant plug-ins do not work with Vegas 12, or so says Red Giant.

Red giant is all about supporting everything else but Vegas.
For Blockbuster looks in Vegas i simply use NewblueFX ColorFast
    and Pixelan FilmTouch….easier and faster.

There’s a significant difference in price between those two softwares. I’m guessing the more expensive one is easier and faster to use.

Still, can’t one get there without an add-on, just using what already comes with Vegas 12?
