Blinking / blackouts on firewire
Posted by Bill Russell on May 11, 2007 at 3:50 amIt’s a DSR-1500A on FCP 5.1.4. But is also did it on FCP 3. Every fifteen seconds or so it blinks black for a second, from my deck to the production monitor. I’m about to chew my arms off. Any hints?

May 11, 2007 at 5:30 amThanks. Nope, not the cable (already swapped), and there is no tape in the deck. The deck works fine on an Avid Express Pro — use it all the time over there. On FCP, it blinks, regularly. I’ve trashed pref’s, parameter ram, rebuilt permissions, Applejack’d, diskwarrior’d, all that and more. Thoughts?

May 11, 2007 at 5:42 amHi, thank you. Just watched the deck now, and it doesn’t seem to notice. No errors, and iLink remains steady.

May 11, 2007 at 6:21 amNo black going to deck and monitor. Black for firewire?
Hmm, okay, but you gave me an idea. I just scrolled though deck menu settings and changed “Out Ref” to “Input” intead of “Ref”.
Darn it! Nope, it’s still doing it. Shoot.

May 11, 2007 at 6:30 amIf you record to tape, does the blinking happen on the record?
