Bliff titler
Posted by Jerome Mcfadden on October 29, 2009 at 9:35 pmI’ve tried Blufftitler nice program for quick Titles but I’ve tried everything to get the title to be transparent, just the text over the video. Can someone help me that uses that program. I know if I lay the title a little back from the beginning of the clip it kinda works It fades in and out. but still not a lot of control. Thanks

October 29, 2009 at 10:01 pmI don’t use Blufftitler but you need to export your title as 32-bit to get an alpha channel. That can be a 32-bit AVI file or 32-bit PNG image sequence, but it needs to be 32-bit (not 24-bit).

October 29, 2009 at 11:07 pmI’ve had good luck letting Blufftitler render on a black background and then using luma keying to remove the black, letting the next lower track show through.

October 30, 2009 at 1:06 amIm not real sure, but if you just want a title overlaid on your video, why not use the Media Generator Text engine?

October 30, 2009 at 2:38 amBluff Titler has a setting for both still and animated titles with a transparent background (alpha channel). Search for the output settings. The newest version will output up to 1920 x 1080. Be sure and set your quality setting, for the output, for best quality – not to be confused with preview settings. This is an awesome little program. I just completed an educational video opening with 3d letters for a BluRay DVD series. It looked great.

October 30, 2009 at 4:56 amFirst, save the title in Bluff Titler as “Uncompressed AVI with Transparency”.
Then, when you import the AVI file into Vegas, right-click > Properties > Media > Alpha Channel [drop down] “Premultiplied” or “Premultiplied (dirty)”.
Et voila!

October 30, 2009 at 5:41 amCreate your title in BT. When you render it out to the size you want use Uncompressed avi with transparency (PNG with transparency will work too but you need to import it as a series of stills). Save the file. Open Vegas. Find your saved file from BT and bring it into Vegas. Place it on the uppermost track. (Now heres the secret) Right click the title event and chose properties and then media and then ‘turn on’ the alpha channel – probably premultiplied dirty and click OK. Voila your title is superimposed over thee lower tracks.

October 30, 2009 at 8:36 pmI always use the “scrolling on transparent” media generator. It can also display timed sequence titles. You can fade them in or out, slide them in and out, etc. It’s easy and quick.
