Blending materials over time.
Posted by Dave Montague on February 23, 2009 at 3:06 amOk…I want to put a texture on an object and over time have it go from one texture to another. Take a box…put a red texture on it and over time have it change to yellow or…have it go to clear. Any ideas?

February 23, 2009 at 5:17 amI followed that step by step and didn’t get any results. Do I have to turn on mix textures or anything like that? Do shaders work as well? I was using shaders.
Thanks a lot!

February 23, 2009 at 7:52 amNope thats how to do it. Shaders should not make any difference.
If its that simple of an animation you can just animate the in side the material. There is a small circle next to all the options (color, alpha gradiant) control click move the time and control click the circle again./Randy

February 23, 2009 at 7:27 pmhey nolan, thanks for that useful info and taking the time to make a movie demo. with that technique what controls the speed of the shader morph? just the time difference between the shader keyframes?

February 23, 2009 at 9:38 pmHi Ronaldo,
Yes, the time-difference between the “Morphs” is controlled by the keyframe-position in the Timeline… for holding, just create another keyframe with the same texture/shader…
Cheers
Nolan
