I also just purchased the same GZ-HD7 and feel that the Mac support is pretty anemic.
Seems as if the transcoding/exporting is the only method right now of working with it in any sort of NLE on the Mac.

Here’s the tutorial from the makers of the QuickTime components.

I’m sure more support from Apple will be coming, it’s just a pain having to endure this process in the meantime.

Here is the website for the download of an EASY SETUP for the various modes of The GZ-HD7U … even doing all this, QT works fine, but I get the render line on the FCP import and using their supplied EASY SETUP

Greetings! How did things work out?

Would you please post the Quicktime component once again? (YouSendIt could work too…)

I am trying to set up my macbookpro to edit files from jvc gz-hd7u and do not have access to cd or component.

Have downloaded “easy setups for everio 60i” from the site above, and placed the files as plugins for quicktime, but it has not done the trick.

    Thank you so much!!!

    Hi all –

I am having problems still. I have some 1440CBR footage shot on my GZ_HD and am using Final Cut 6. I used the supplied HD7 easy setup file and imported the footage … but it STILL shows up as audio needing to render and video works only thru RT Unlimited. Footage plays back fine in QuickTime, though there it shows up as 1920×1080. Anyone get this camera footage to work in Final Cut yet w/o conversion?

    thanks –

    S
