    Hi All

I see some are having issues with FCP 5 and/or the new OS and of course the new QT. Too many news for an old guy like me
Just curious if anyone has a definitive recommendation re upgrading to 10.3.9 or TIger and gently easing into FCP 5
and the rest of the studio stuff. Currently on a big project so am not interested in upsetting the apple cart (pun intended)

    any ideas

I’m staying on 10.3.8 and FCP 4.5 for now because it is basically rock-solid. Too many components are still at .0 or .1 phase (OSX, FCP, QuickTime) for me to be comfortable. I did install Tiger on my laptop and as far as I can tell FCP 4.5 was working on it fine, but I of course only used DV on the laptop.
    I’d wait a minute….

I believe we’ll see 10.4.2 by the end of June, so that may be a good milestone to wait for. Whether you do that or not I WOULD suggest waiting until the big project is over! That’s always a good policy, no matter how secure the update should be.

Use your own judgment, why would you follow anyone’s advice around here? We all have different systems, different competencies and widely differing project management theories.

My upgrade to Tiger and the new suite was a long process but I’m enjoying tons of new tools, especially in DVDSP4. Tiger is a fabulous environment.

Use your head, run your backups, study the warnings in the various groups and move when you’re ready. If you can afford the upgrades, waiting beyond what is reasonable to finish your current projects and backup your system is silly. But that’s just my opinion and I wouldn’t listen to me if I was you.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
