blank (black) screen in after effects
hello,
i’ve just downloaded the demo of adobe after effects and visited some tutorial sites.
first i tought i was totally worthless in this becouse i couldn’t get ANY thing to get working.
now i just found out that when i import a movie and double click on it, it would play without problems.
but when i start to use it in a composition and then preview it with the 0 button i just get nothing.
the screen is black.
so i made a new composition, imported some movie files, put 1 on the timeline and setup a begin and end for the working space. then when i preview it i just get a blank screen.
do u need any special codecs or something ?
i’ve tried some other program’s to, 1 of them was avid and i got the same problem.
in any of those program’s i just can’t see the movies i’m working with, al give me a blank/black screen showing nothing at all.

Perhaps the video codec/compression you are using is not something AE (or avid can understand.
What format is your source video? Try it with other types of footage too.

these are fresh movies i’ve made with fraps.
i’ve recorded parts from a game i play, world of warcraft.
allot of people are making movies from those files from fraps.
fraps records the things u want from a game.
al are recorded as a .avi file that is almost uncompressed. so a few minutes is like 1gb.
i can’t imagine that these program’s can’t work with it, becouse ALLOT of people are using these files to make movies.

It’s probably using a codec AE doesn’t understand. You’ll probably have to convert them to another format before bring it into AE?
Have you tried other video files (non Frap) in AE?
