I’ve had mixed success with Blackmagic’s device control protocol and the Panasonic D5 for editing to tape. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve surely changed device control to Panasonic’s RS422, not Sony’s.

With AJA’s Kona, I have no problems.

Is it me, or is AJA more friendly with Panasonic than Blackmagic is?

    Hi,

Can we have more information? We have D5s in our QA labs they pose no issues. What exactly do you mean by it not working? Which Blackmagic Design product do you have?

    regards

DeckLink HD Extreme 3 with software 6.8.8.
    FCP7

I setup in FCP for Panasonic RS422 instead of the default Sony protocol.

When I edit to tape with FCP, sometimes the MacPro and the D5 agree to edit to tape and other times the deck reports no edit capabilities to the MacPro. I have zero problems with the same work flow on a Kona MacPro, but also have 4 Mac’s running on Blackmagic cards, so it would be nice to get them all working.
    Any thoughts would be great.
    Thanks!
