The camera, the new UltraStudio 4K and Resolve 16 are all sweet. If you have the App Store version, updates dropped this morning.

The lack of BRAW support in FCPX continues to get more depressing while Resolve continues to innovate in many areas as an NLE (except tracks). That the BMPCC 6K only uses 6K with BRAW exacerbates the disparity. I think a lot hinges on the next FCPX version release.

WELL, we know ONE thing that DR 16.1 has that NO OTHER NLE has.

A “boring detector.” Any shot over a certain length of time gets flagged as boring (in the CUT page, specifically).

    Ball’s in your court, FCX!

[Shane Ross] “in the CUT page”

The Cut page is a valid attempt to do something like FCPX. But, unless I’m missing it, you can’t do J-cuts and L-cuts. That pretty much means if you know what you are doing, you’re going to do the least possible in the Cut page and just move straight to the Edit page.

    [Steve Connor] “Brilliant!”

Really? Don’t you think this is a solution in search of a problem?

Yes, but it also a bit of fun 🙂

Only the BMD team could come up with such a corny name. Honestly, it’s a feature worth using now and then. Looks like Apple missed the boat on this one.

I wonder if the opening shot of Touch of Evil would trigger the “boring” meter ?

This function simply counts frames. I doubt there’s any real AI involved. So set the parameters and it should trigger accordingly. Of course, they also have the terminology wrong for what a “jump cut” actually is.
