  • Blackmagic LiveKey and Final Cut Pro alpha channel problems

    Hi!

I am using Final Cut Pro to output graphics with an alpha channel (Animation, millions of colors+), with the help of LiveKey through a Multibridge Pro.

The Video Out in FCP has to be set to Blackmagic RGB for this to work, but it only works while the timeline is playing over a clip. Every time you pause or the playhead is over an empty video track, the alpha channel (matte) is broken.

How can I fix this? I would like to be able to pause, without destroying the alpha. Any suggestions?

Hi Thomas did you solve this problem?

I’m trying to do the same thing and am only having success with Livekey & Qclip. I’m only getting full frame white key from FCP with Livekey.

    Best Wishes
    Callum

I actually managed to get it right through Apple’s Motion 2.0, with video out set to BMD RGB. It did not work properly in Motion 3 or FCP.

Blackmagic Design had actually never heard of LiveKey being used in conjunction with FCP
before I asked them questions about it, back in February 2008.

I would definitely look for an other more reliable solution.
