    Hi,

I’m having loads of fun with my decklink extreme. But it seems to bring me a slight problem. A client of mine can’t play the “Black magic DV” codec. I work with FCP 6 and the CS4 suite. The client is on Windows Vista and they have quicktime for windows. How do I get my DV/NTSC to be “universal”?

The DV codec should be easily decoded by ANY DV codec. As a matter of fact I believe the codec we use when capturing DV with the blackmagic presets in CS4 should be the Microsoft DV. Infact I just checked it, if you go to export the project the exporter defaults to MS Avi with a codec of NTSC DV.

So please make sure you are not changing those selections. Using the MS DV codec should work fine and will be ALMOST universally accepted.

    Sincerely,

    Thanks for the answer.

But, MS AVI? I’m a mac guy. The default export is Quicktime dv/ntsc. Is this as “universal”?

    Sorry….QT DV then.

Its the same general principle. On the mac side we use the generic QT DV codec.
