October 2, 2012 at 3:47 pmI’ve never used it, but any external recorder that allows to skip the in-cameara codec is recommendable.

October 2, 2012 at 3:48 pmA friend has this recorder and he says it works well for his uncompressed HD video gigs. But you must realize just how big these files are. Yes there will be a huge difference in overall all image quality but you and your client base need to fit this workflow. If you are editing in Avid it will also compress to their DNxHD codec. Solid state driving are the future.
IMHO You can get higher quality video without the expense and time you’ll commit to this recorder with a Nano Flash or even the AJA Mini Pro.Good Luck

October 2, 2012 at 7:59 pmWorks fine with both Sony EX3 and PMW-350. I am recording important footage on the shuttle in DNxHD mov files although Premiere CS 5 cannot read them. An earlier software release of shuttle software worked fine with cs5. I can recommend it. It create much better footage than the very compressed footage on the EX format.

October 2, 2012 at 9:50 pmI am using Vegas Pro 11, and the ‘estimate’ I am doing now is to determine if the Black Magic shuttle will give me the quality I need for feature film work.

June 28, 2013 at 10:37 pmHi Bo
I’m having a little trouble with my BM Shuttle 2.
My BM Shuttle 2 will not start recording automatically when pressing the record button on my Sony PMW 350.
Does your BM Shuttle 2 start automatically when pressing the record-button on your Sony PMW 350?
