  • Blackmagic Design HDLink Pro DVI – bigger screens than 30″?

    Hi!

I am considering purchasing several HDLink units to use with 42″ monitors that are part of a TV studio. I figured this is a considerably cheaper way to get SDI into the monitors, rather than buying dedicated SDI I/O cards for the monitors.

However, after reading the specs on BMD’s website, I noticed that they say “Supports SD, HD and 2K using Dual Link DVI-D displays up to 30 inches 2560 x 1600 in size.”. This might be a stupid question, but does this really mean that the HDLink cannot be used to send a 1080p DVI signal to a 42″ monitor, only up to 30″?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

The requirements are really referring to Dual Link DVI-D displays up to 2560×1600. The size of the screen does not matter.

If you’re going to be sending your DVI signal to a 42″ display that is just 1920×1080, it will be fine.
