    Hi guys,
Looking at getting a blackmagic card for my PC at home. I mainly do After Effects work. And while my PC is very under spec at the moment I will be upgrading soon. Currently I run:

    AMD 2500+
    2g RAM
    160G SATA 7200
    GA-7N400 Pro mobo
    2x Samsung LCD
1x 16×9/4×3 switchable television (currently not hooked up).

Is there any point in getting a blackmagic card now? What I mainly need it for is previewing my work on a monitor. I do use premiere a lot….and will be wanting to capture analogue sources such as VHS/Hi-8 etc. So not HD or anything. Would my current machine drop frames capturing SD footage like this?

Also, on my current machine will my Premiere Pro 1.5 editing benefit? In terms of less rendering of effects etc?

    Thanks in advance…

the lowest I have ran 10bit analog captures @ SD is PII 1200Mhz – 128MB ram two sperate ultra ata drives. Did not get preview through deck controll but did get nice quitime files that I used later.
So I think you should be fine
