Blackmagic capture issue with U-Matic player

Hi all, I’ve been tasked with digitising a video archive from multiple formats to hard drive storage. I’m currently capturing U-Matic tapes from a U-Matic player (model: VP-5040) using a BNC cable to a split out 44 pin serial header port on the Blackmagic capture card (Blackmagic Decklink Studio 2) using the interface Blackmagic Media Express (version 2.3) inside an old Mac tower running on macOSx v10.6.7, Snowleopard.

 

We’ve stumbled upon a problem where when capturing we hear a glitching noise which peaks on the audio channels and we haven’t been able to determine the problem. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, does anyone know of a potential resolve?
