We have two FCP edit suites with Aja Io hardware for SD. We want to add HD monitoring, but money is tight. The leading solution right now is to add Blackmagic Decklink cards and HD Link converters for some LCD computer monitors. Without going into other solutions, can the Blackmagic hardware be used at the same time as the Aja Io? We think it would work since the Aja IO are firewire and the Blackmagic is adding PCI express cards. Just select different outputs from the view menu in Final Cut.

They are incompatible, as the drivers from each conflict. Money is tight everywhere, but your business requires a seamless solution that works, not some hopeful “gerry-rigged” solution. Get a used AJA LH or LHe for $500 with all the SD and HD I/O you need and be done with it.

Sell the i/o box. or hook it up on a MacBook as 3th system.

Look at Decklink Studio cards. They provide pretty much all in/output for not a very high price.
You probably don’t need all the Decklink 3D features. But check the specs for what you need.
