I have a question about the 8bit and 10bit codec of Blackmagic, and I was hoping someone could enlighten me. From what I understand, the 2 extra bits that the 10bit has over the 8bit is supposed to be alpha channel right? So is it possible for me to render and AVI with alpha channel? I ran into a problem the other day when I exported an AVI to 10bit 4:4:4 and put it on the PP timeline and all I was getting was black. When I looked at the properties, I saw that it had an alpha channel, so what I did was put a filter to remove the Alpha(Alpha Adjust). After this, I was able to scrub thru my footage, but had to render to play it back in real time. Is it really supposed to be like this? Thanks:)

No. The difference is extra color depth. I can’t address why you had an alpha channel in your clip, however.
