Is your ama set to auto detect? If so, try calling up the exact type of ama you want to bring in instead. I find autodetect works about half the time…depending on the source i’m ama’ing.

That could be an issue, but I find that Autodetect will fall back on QuickTime AMA when stumped, and in this case, is the one to use. But I agree that directly selection QT AMA will at least eliminate that from the text matrix.

We know the QT AMA plugin is being called by the console feedback.

Yeah, the autodetect is selected when it’s happening. I’ve tried selecting the AMA manually but it’s not letting me; the ok button is grayed out. I’ll try again this evening. QT seems to be correct and updated, too.

When you manually select the plugin you choose either qt folder or qt files. You then have to re navigate to either the root folder or a selection of files. Then ok.

    Argh!

After transferring the clips to a RAID drive (our master drive) and trying once again to AMA link, it still won’t link and gives me this error message in the console:

    —— AMA Link To File(s) ——

Forcing sample provider mode for video.
    Appropriate QuickTime decompressor wasn’t found!
    [ Plugin Name = QuickTime Plug-In Avid Technology, Inc. Version = 1.3.2.7205 ] could not process /Volumes/CalDigit T3 12TB/toxic_state/test.mov
GetCodecName | Failed GetCodecInfo with err: -8961

We’re shooting 4K ProRes HQ with the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K. Is it possible AVID just won’t AMA link this particular codec? Maybe it’s too new? I’m still on the trial version; could that be a problem?

    Very frustrated!

Is is using the new ProRes 4K codec that was announced a few months back? I don’t have any sample media from that camera to check, so I can’t verify what you are seeing. If you could send a small sample file to me at michael[at]24p[dot]com I will take a look. You can use a free service lik WeTransfer.com to send.
