I know this post must have already been posted but since Color isn’t so uniuqe to narrow and search, every posts inclused a word, Color.

I’m so close in buying the AJA Kona LHe which is 4:2:2. It’s a bit pricey for me but I think I can wing it. I can swear the price went up $400 since I last checked 6 months ago.

I saw some company selling a 4:4:4 decklink card and was $400 cheaper than AJA. I’m not sure which card it was but the 4:4:4 was attractive. I’m sure there may be a downfall somewhere.

I have a Mac Pro 3 and am purchasing a card so I can monitor Apple Color. I read in some posts that the Black Magic cards are having a tough time with Color. (Maybe that’s why AJA jacked up the price?)

So, my question is, what Black Magic card can I get that works with Color? Can I realy get a 4:4:4 that’s cheaper than the 4:2:2? Something is missing….

    Hi.

I’m just geting myself new Multibridge and MAC and have the same question. But in the other hand i do have much faith in BM that if they do not support it now i hope they will have it in next driver update. All other stuff AE and Combustion are supported and i do not see that Color is something really special in that sence.

    hi …
want to say that color is working fine with my decklink hd studio card .. previewing via y/c on my broadcast monitor .. so you dont have to wait for an update or something if you use a decklink card … but with on hint .. you must disable the secd. monitor output on the card pref. .. thats it .. just enjoy color ..
to the 4:4:4 question i dont have an answer .. cause hd studio works with 4:2:2 …

i dont know why … its somethink have to do with the framebuffer that color uses …
and if you use your decklink card as a sec. monitor it will show you an error message that the framebuffer is still in use .. so disable sec. monitor out on your decklink pref. and it will work .. maybe a dev. from bmd can say why it will not work without sec. monitor is enabled ..

    Hi,

The DeckLink and Multibridge products provide a video desktop output option. However, this is not the same as a dedicated graphics card. When you start Color, it polls the graphic devices to ensure that you are running a supported graphics card. Since our video desktop output is technically not an OpenGL device, Color will not run and reports an error. This is why you have to disable the video desktop output. However, doing so will not have an affect with monitoring while in Color as our hardware will still be used.

    regards
