  • Black Magic Design Intensity Pro – Unavailable in Vegas v12???

Posted by Gary Brown on October 5, 2012 at 1:16 pm

Upon installation of the trial of Vegas Pro v12 the BMD Intensity Pro card I use for HDMI output to Preview was ‘unavailable’, although listed. Two identical machines show the same result, but HDMI out is still available in v11 & v10 on the same machines. Thoughts anyone?

Try having only Vegas 12 on your system and see if it picks
it up properly….(The problem is, its the trial you have).
Try a reinstalling it, Doubt its a trial limitation.

Thanks for the thoughts Steve. It does pose an issue though, if I have to uninstall working versions on an editor with active projects just to see, IF, Hmmm … I might migrate all the projects & material to another machine over the weekend and give it a try.

I don’t want to be argumentative, and I really do appreciate the input, but I am way skeptical. All this just to see if it will work. That is what a trial is supposed to be for, isn’t it? I imagine the pain of coughing up the same funds I paid for v11, just to find the Trial wasn’t really full featured, and then find that v12 doesn’t work on my system after all. I assure you some choice words would undoubtedly escape my mouth. I’ll report.

I thought I might try re-installing the bloatware that came with the BMD card, even though that requires removing the card & doing the hokey pokey!-)

Lol…I understand you perfectly Gary, i didnt touch Vegas 11
because it was a bit unstable, and i made it known. But Vegas 12
    is back on track.
I see you also made this post on the Sony forum. Tell you what,
as you mentioned it, reinstalling the bloatware and doing all
that hokey pokey is a good idea. But make sure the Vegas 12 trial
is already installed before you do that.

Well I did the Hokey Pokey, uninstalled, pulled it out, rebooted, shook it all about. Re-installed card, and software, and viola! All is right with the world. Thank you all for letting bounce this off of you.

    Hey Gary,
I’ve got the same setup. The problem is a bit compounded by the fact that I’m trying to use a ALTONO composite and S-Video to HDMI out converter. I know the converter is working as I can hook it up to and HDMI monitor and select several resolutions and see the output. However Sony Vegas Pro through the Black Magic Connection will not allow me to see the Video or the Audio for that matter. I’m wondering if I have to stick with a specific resolution setting or something? I’m trying to run it all through the Black Magic Intensity Pro Card in a brand new computer. I can capture DV via a fire wire card I have installed and that works like a champ but despite the fact the Operating System tells me all is well with the Black Magic Card Sony Vegas Pro just will not capture any video through it. Nothing shows. I have a black screen on the softwares preview screen. Any Ideas?
