    Hi!

When balancing the black level making the individual RGB lift-channels to line at 0 IRE, I normally use the wheel.
In most cases I want the black to be black, that basically means that they need to be lined up.

With this basic method I am forced to not use the left wheel anymore in the session as if I (lets say) turn it towards red, it will mess up the black and in this case lift the green and the blue level. I need it to remain on the same line.

When the clips i balanced for black I need to keep my hands of the left wheel and I need to use other options (like secondaries, curves etc.) to adjust everything from eg 15 IRE and up. Isnt that correct?

As you understand I need the 0-15 IRE to remain black but I want to use the left wheel.

I know this is a dumb ass question but when I working with commercials where I want the black to be black, It had me thinking that the left wheel only can be used for balancing. When this is done, I cant think of any reason to ever touch it anymore.
